For a correct interpretation of a short messages the control or monitoring direction should be set.

PtP ( Point to Point ) / MuP ( Multi Point ) : 
The switch-on pulse is filtered out when receiving. The simulation mode in SIMO is affected by MuP.

Particular features with the parameterization

The station-number, always existing with MuP, can be set differently for transmitting and receiving with PtP. In control direction a station number is always expected in the telegram.

Possible settings :
The station-number can be included only in control direction or in both directions.

The direction for the receipt must be declared additional if the station-number is only set in control direction.

Telegram structure

Information types 

With certain protocols, it is not possible to distinguish the various message-types. Therefore a protocol specific list is introduced to the type identification. This list describes the allocation of the message address to the message-type.

A created list can be saved over < File | load | INFTYP > when required. If the < Configuration window > displays in the line Information type "?????" the list is faulty or not created.

Simulation mode :

In SIMO you can simulate a master station or substation by the commands "rti" and "rtu".

Polling :
  
 rti [ station number ( 0 - 127 ) ] => simulate master station
rtu [ station number ( 0 - 127 ) ] => simulate substation 

The station number handed over as parameter is entered into each telegram. The MSC-number is set correctly. If needed SIMO sends back telegrams automatically with the following send buffers reserved (these buffers should not be occupied otherwise ):

Bit shifter

In SIMO you can activate a bit shifter via the command "bs". It enables you to set a bit conveniently into the information block of the relevant telegram. When exceeding the information area the message address is automatically increased or reduced.

In the window "bit shifter" you can use the following command :
[ 1-9 ] define interval n
[ arrow-right ] n bit to the right
[ arrow-left ] n bit to the left
[ arrow-up ] increase message address by 1
[ arrow-down ] reduce message address by 1
[ S ] send message
[ ESC ] quit entry mask

It should be taken into account that the bit shifter doesn't change the message address and the information block ; previous settings are not lost. Furthermore its application is not useful with all message types ( only indications and fleetings ). Short messages are not processed.

Plain text display format

The output for each channel can be manipulated over the menu item <Format> in the programs SIMO, TRAP and TDEP. To optimise the output one can distinguish between three plain text settings for protocols with long telegrams.

Transmission errors

*F:Blocklength :  The message length is incorrect.
*F:Hamming code : Faulty check code.
*F:Time tolerance : The measured character length is beyond the tolerance set SIMO.
*F:Spike : The received sign is smaller than 20% of the short pulse.
